Introducing the 2035 Vision Podcasting Platform

Following October's inaugural 2035 Oceania Summit, Wharf42 is launching the '2035 Vision Podcasting Platform' to develop some of key in-depth conversations that the Summit generated.

With global demand for nutritious and affordable food increasing, building on some of the key themes raised by the Summit was always going to be a major post-event activity. With a rapidly changing climate continuing to impact on agrifood production systems worldwide, the '2035 Vision Podcasting Platform' provides an important channel to expand on some of the key conversations generated by the Summit. It's a conversation we want you to join.

To provide some context and background to these conversations, we have uploaded the video recordings of every single 2035 Oceania Summit session to this website. The Podcasts menu above will become home to every 2035 Vision Podcast recorded. The Podcast News menu will detail real-time outcomes from these podcasts.

The 2035 Vision Podcasting Platform is not just about the talk. It's about the real impact that its conversation can bring.

Applying Toitū sustainability values to 2035 Vision's international outreach

For Wharf42, securing Toitū Carbon Zero accreditation for the 2035 Oceania Summit Operations, has set absolute standards which we are applying to 2035 Vision's international outreach.

Welcome to 2035 Vision

Today, we are delighted to introduce our first three key Podcast contributors; Alice Ritchie, Dr Victoria Hatton & Professor Richard Newcomb. Alice, Victoria & Richard will be expanding on some of the important insights they shared at October's 2035 Oceania Summit.

Upcoming Podcasts

Alice Ritchie, Agriculture Sustainability Manager, Tesco

Understanding ‘The Voice of the Customer’ is a critical function of business. There are few bigger customers for New Zealand agricultural product than UK supermarket giant, Tesco.

As a business, Tesco plans to be carbon neutral by 2035. And net zero from ‘farm to fork’ by 2050. What does this mean for New Zealand farmers looking to leverage the recently signed FTA with the UK? And how does our sector’s carbon emissions reduction timetable stack up with Tesco’s sustainability strategy?

Alice will be joined in this insightful podcast by Dana Muir, Head of Natural Capital, BNZ. For New Zealand food producers, continuing to adapt to a post-COVID world, understanding 'The Voice of the Customer' has never been more important.

Dr Victoria Hatton, Director, Sustainability and Climate, PwC NZ

At October's 2035 Oceania Summit, Victoria analysed and provided insights into the benefits that a net-zero food production system could offer New Zealand & Australian farmers and growers. It was an analysis that resonated.

Victoria specialises in agri-food production and technology, drawing on her involvement working for the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation in Rome. In this podcast, Victoria will expand on the theme she developed at the Summit and will talk about the significant opportunity that a net-zero food production system can offer the region's primary producers.

Professor Richard Newcomb, Chief Scientist, Plant & Food Research

Leveraging the scientific advances being made by our research community provides a significant opportunity for farmers to address the ongoing impact of a changing climate.

With a team of almost 1000 people working across Aotearoa New Zealand and the world to help deliver healthy foods from the world’s most sustainable systems, Plant & Food Research use world-leading science to improve the way we grow, fish, harvest, prepare and share food. In this podcast, Richard will share details about how Plant & Food Research take that science and convert it into actionable, commercial output to help farmers and growers adopt new growing models as we transform to a more sustainable farming future.
